My stay at the Chang An Grand Hotel in Beijing had its ups and downs. The location was decent with easy access to the Metro, but the overall cleanliness was not up to par, and the beds were super stiff. However, I did enjoy the dining options, which offered a solid mix of both Chinese and Western food.

Rooms
5.0
The rooms were fairly spacious but really needed a deep clean. There was noticeable mold in the bathrooms, and the carpets were stained and in need of attention.
Service
5.0
The staff were friendly, but the language barrier made communication tough at times, which was frustrating.
Location
5.0
The hotel is located in South Beijing, making the Metro the best way to get around. It's about a 6-minute walk to the station, which is super helpful for getting to local attractions.
Dining
5.0
I found the food to be pretty good, with a solid variety of options. Breakfast had both Western and Chinese dishes, which worked for me.
Facilities
5.0
The facility offered standard amenities like room service and laundry, but nothing stood out as particularly impressive.

6.8/10

My stay at Chang An Grand Hotel was a mixed experience. While the spacious rooms were clean, they had a noticeable old smell that wasn't ideal. The location in South Beijing means it’s far from major sites, but the staff were friendly and very helpful, especially when it came to arranging transportation for outings.

Rooms
6.0
The rooms were spacious and clean, but they had an unpleasant smell of cigarette smoke. The decor felt tired and in need of refreshing. The shower pressure was good, and hot water was available, which was a plus.
Service
6.0
Despite a language barrier, the staff were friendly and assisted me well. They even used a translation app to ensure clear communication, which I appreciated. However, I felt some basic customer skills could be improved.
Location
6.0
The hotel is located in South Beijing, which is quite far from popular attractions like the Forbidden City. Though the Metro system in the city helps with this inconvenience, proximity to tourist areas would have enhanced my stay.
Dining
6.0
Breakfast offered a decent selection with options like toast, eggs, and fruit. However, they ran out of Western options during my stay, which was disappointing. Overall, the dining experience was reasonable but could improve with more consistent offerings.
Facilities
6.0
Facilities included room service and laundry, which were beneficial. However, the overall maintenance of the hotel left something to be desired.

7.0/10

My stay at Chang An Grand Hotel had its ups and downs. The location is decent, making it easy to access local attractions, but the rooms really need some work, and the beds were uncomfortably hard. However, the buffet breakfast was pretty solid, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my time there.

Rooms
6.0
The rooms are clean and spacious but definitely show their age with a bit of a mouldy smell. They really require refurbishment to meet modern standards.
Service
7.0
The staff were incredibly friendly, and even though there was a language barrier, they did their best to assist me. I really appreciated how they helped me order private cars to popular spots and translated what I needed.
Location
6.0
The hotel's in South Beijing, which isn't too bad, but it's pretty far from the main tourist attractions. Getting to the Forbidden City took over an hour, so keep that in mind if you're planning to explore.
Dining
6.0
Breakfast was a bit hit or miss; there were decent options, but a fair amount of the Western food ran out quickly. I did enjoy the Chinese food at the hotel restaurant, though it’s not my usual preference.
Facilities
5.0
Facilities are quite limited; no fridge in the room is a bummer, and the air conditioning isn't great either. Room service and laundry are available, but that's about it.

My stay at Chang An Grand Hotel was a mixed bag. The grandeur of the lobby gave me high expectations, but the room fell short in terms of cleanliness and comfort. While the dining options were quite good, the overall condition of the hotel left much to be desired.

Rooms
5.0
The room felt quite old and was in desperate need of maintenance. It had chipped tiles and a hard bed that made it tough to get comfortable during my stay.

Staff were generally friendly and helpful, though the language barrier occasionally made communication difficult. I experienced delays in service, which felt frustrating at times.
Location
6.0
The location is decent for accessing local attractions via the Metro, which is just a short walk away. However, it is somewhat distant from popular tourist spots.
Dining
7.0
I enjoyed the food at the hotel, with a good selection of both Western and Chinese dishes. The dining experience was organized, though getting to breakfast early is essential due to large tour groups.
Facilities
5.0
Facilities such as room service and laundry are available, but overall the hotel is in need of a facelift to match the charm of its foyer.

The hotel lobby exudes a sense of grandeur, but I found the rooms to be quite outdated and not well-kept. While the food at the restaurant was decent and had a wide range, the overall cleanliness and comfort of my room left much to be desired.

Rooms
5.0
My room was large but unfortunately had a lot of wear and tear, with a strong smell of cigarette smoke and a broken cupboard. The bed was particularly uncomfortable, making sleep difficult.
Service
5.0
The staff were friendly and eager to help, which I appreciated despite the language barrier. However, there were moments when their customer service skills felt lacking, as I sometimes felt ignored.
Location
5.0
The location is somewhat distant from popular tourist attractions, which is a downside. However, the metro system is efficient, making it easier to explore the city despite the distance.
Dining
7.0
Dining options were quite good with a solid breakfast variety, including a nice selection of Asian and Western foods. Just be sure to arrive early to avoid the rush from other tour groups.
Facilities
5.0
Facilities like room service and laundry were available, which is a plus, but the overall condition of the hotel makes me think it could use some updates.
